A quick recap of key concepts
As emphasized from the start, the primary objective of this course is to empower you with the skills necessary to master the basic elements of time management.
Our goal is to enable you to apply these principles in a manner that is both convenient and highly effective for your unique circumstances. By doing so, you will be able to achieve remarkable results in enhancing your productivity in the shortest possible time.
With this goal in mind, we introduced you to:
- the six basic time management concepts you learned about in this course
- the reasons why we considered them important
- the reasons why we presented them in the order in which they appeared in the course
The course began with goal setting, which represents the starting point in efficient time management. More precisely, you learned to focus on setting S.M.A.R.T goals and objectives. We chose to start with this because it was like setting your destination for a trip. If you don’t know where you want to go, you won’t know where to start. Therefore, it was essential to learn this very clearly right from the beginning.
We continued with prioritization through the decision matrix. While you will always have a multitude of actions and activities to complete, not all of them will help you to the same extent in achieving the goals you set in the previous step.
It is important to determine what has priority and what does not. This way, you will not spend your energy on efforts that lead anywhere but the set destination – or maybe in the end they will lead you to the destination but not at the desired time.
Once you have established your goals and set your priorities, we move on to basic planning. The elements of this concept will help you draw the general lines of your schedule in the longer or shorter term depending on what you aim to achieve. As the name indicates, we taught you how to use simple, basic elements such as to-do lists, calendars, and someday tasks, which will help you get the most out of your available time.
Advanced planning techniques was the stage in which we deepened your planning. You learned about methods – namely, time blocking and SWDH – to make short-term planning more efficient. Their importance stemmed from the fact that your long-term plans depend on what is happening now. Therefore, you must use the present time as well as possible, so that you can benefit from increased time availability in the future.
The next step was learning how to act on the plans – that is, to respect them and adjust them according to your needs and any situations that arise because…life happens 😅. The best way to do this is through time tracking. We explained what time you should be tracking according to the established goals, as well as the entire time tracking process, which is very simple but of utmost importance in the efficient management of time.
Additionally, we’ve shown you how simple it is to invoice your billable hours when you keep track of them through time tracking or planning in an app.
Later, we moved on to time accountability, the element that will help you determine if you are acting effectively in terms of time management as a whole. For this, you’ve learned how to balance planning vs. time tracking and find out what you must do to leave no task behind.
At the end, we gave you some tips and tricks that will help you become efficiently effective in terms of time management.
